Why strong teachers get filtered out

If you’re a former teacher or planning a career change, it’s rarely your experience. It’s how a school resume reads to a company.

Recruiters don't speak classroom
IEPs, differentiation, PLCs and classroom management mean a lot in a school. To a hiring manager at a software company, they mean very little.
Software reads your resume first
Most companies run resumes through an applicant tracking system (ATS) that compares your words to the job posting. If the posting says “needs analysis” and you wrote “assessed student needs,” you may never reach a person.
Duties instead of results
Teacher resumes tend to list responsibilities. Corporate resumes show what changed because of you, with numbers when you have them.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Add your resume

Upload a PDF or Word file, or paste the text.

  2. Step 2

    Choose the job you want

Pick a target role, or paste a real job posting for a closer match.

  3. Step 3

    See your free score

Find out what's filtering you out, with two bullets rewritten so you can judge the quality.

  4. Step 4

    Download your resume

A 30-day pass is $12: download ATS-safe PDF and Word files and use every tool. Or $100 once, for good.

Questions teachers ask

I've only ever worked in schools. Is this for me?

Yes. CVali is built for teachers whose whole career has been in education. It finds the corporate-relevant work you've already done and describes it in the words recruiters use.

Which jobs do former teachers move into?

The most common moves are instructional design, corporate training and L&D, customer success, ed-tech sales, project coordination and curriculum development. CVali has keyword lists for each, and you can check against any other job by pasting its posting.

Will CVali make things up?

No. It rewrites what you actually did. When a bullet would be stronger with a number, it asks you for one instead of inventing it. When a job asks for a skill you don't have yet, like Articulate Storyline, it tells you rather than adding it.

What is an ATS?

An applicant tracking system is software companies use to collect and filter resumes. Many compare your resume's words to the job posting before a recruiter looks at it. Simple layouts and matching keywords help you get through.

Is my resume uploaded anywhere for the free check?

No. The free check runs entirely in your browser, so your resume never leaves your device. We only store a resume if you save it to your account.

Is this a subscription?

No. The free check is free. A 30-day pass is $12 and ends by itself, or you can pay $100 once for lifetime access. Nothing renews automatically.

How do refunds work?

Email hello@cvali.com within 7 days of your purchase and we'll refund you in full. You don't need to give a reason.
